P.S. 195X
Bronx, New York
As part of the PlaNYC Schoolyards to Playgrounds Initiative, P.S. 195X’s existing courtyard space was converted into a playground area for both school and community use. Working within the constraints of a small budget, small space, and many different uses across a school day, asphalt paint was the primary tool to delineate flexible play areas, track lines, and a basketball court for the elementary school. The colorful super-graphics integrated neighborhood themes and customized metal, decorative panels were installed along the top of the existing chain-link fence to create a bold entry marker.
