Destination Point Defiance: Waterfront Phase 1
Tacoma, Washington
Point Defiance Waterfront Park is a remediated EPA brownfield site in Tacoma, Washington that makes important public connections to the waterfront through a series of corresponding pedestrian and bike trails and a new 625-foot long pedestrian bridge connecting Tacoma’s existing Point Defiance Park to this previously inaccessible section of the Commencement Bay waterfront. The project resulted in the construction of 20-acres of remediated brownfield site and newly accessible public waterfront park space. New pedestrian and bike lane connections extending from the new park site, creating new linkages to the existing Point Defiance Park, that serves over 3 million visitors annually.
